Banana Grape Salad

Eating banana based fruit salads are a great way to start the day. Bananas are high in potassium and low in sodium which lowers your blood pressure. They have a high tryptophan to competing amino acid ratio that boosts serotonin in the brain and increases feelings of happiness and wellbeing. Tryptophan is an essential amino acid that has to compete with other amino acids to get into the brain. In low protein foods such as bananas tryptophan has fewer amino acids to compete with so entry into the brain is faster than in high protein foods. Bananas are also high in Vitamin B6 which is necessary for converting tryptophan to serotonin. In addition to vitamins and minerals grapes have resveratrol which fights cancer and may activate longevity genes.
